Way out here in west Texas, we are used to the brown and the flat. However, if you look hard enough you'll find a handful of gems that are a perfect backdrop for your Graduate session. This location guide is filled with a variety of options in the Midland area to help you decide!

Urban Myths

Midland doesn’t have any urban options is an urban myth! If you are wanting an urban feel for your session, the midland/Odessa area has so many options for you! The urban background setting is full of options! Murals, unique architecture, and even Alley ways can create a background to fit your style. Midland has a wonderfully restored downtown area with multiple options and many murals throughout town! Here are a few examples of urban areas in our area!

Nature is Neat!

My personal favorite backgrounds are those in nature! I love a dirt road, I love a west Texas sunset, and I love that backgrounds set in nature have few distractions than those in other places. Rarely do we have cars driving by, fewer power lines and stop lights. Just you, and all mother nature has to offer. There are several locations in west Texas that show off all we have to offer, take a look at some of these examples! My personal favorites are the Sibley Center and the Petroleum museum.

Sentimental Spots

One of my favorite parts about being a photographer is getting to know so many unique individuals. That process includes getting to know you on more than just a surface level. Some of my favorite sessions are sessions that take place at a location that not everyone has access to. Going to a ranch or lake house that has been in your family for years makes your session even more special. Spending part of your session at your school or church creates a more personal experience for your session. If you have a sentimental spot, please let me know!
