What Should You Wear to Your Senior Session

Has anyone else been in the fitting room of a store, almost in tears because there just isn’t a thing to wear? Nothing is the right style (the sleeves are too short, or the waist-to-length ratio is a nightmare), color, or fit, and you’re just over it. I really hope I’m not alone here, but sometimes it is just so hard to find the perfect outfit, let alone several outfits to wear during your session. That’s why I want to make the process easier! This blog is full of helpful tips on how to decide on what to wear and how to find the perfect look!

First things first. Your session is one hour long. How you choose to use that hour is up to you! If you want to stick to one outfit and throw your cap and gown on intermittently, great! This session just became a whole lot easier. However, if you want to use a few different outfits, here are a few options on where to start!

Dressed Up

I always suggest starting off with a dressed-up look. For some, this may mean a suit and tie. For others, this means jeans and a button-down. Whatever it is for you, it’s great! Starting off in a more dressed-up look means fewer wrinkles later on. These dressed-up options are also great images to use for headshots or your resume.

Dressed Down

Your dressed-down look is what you would wear normally. Not basketball shorts and a tee, but jeans and a tee or Shorts and a polo. Think casual but with some effort. This is the look that best represents you and your unique style. Don’t overthink this look!

Announcement

Some seniors like to include their new school during their sessions. This could mean a shirt, a flag, a hat, or a sign. However you choose to incorporate your next adventures, just make sure the rest of the outfit matches. Wearing an orange polo to announce that you’re going to A&M probably isn’t going to land well. If you’re not wanting to change clothes to hold up a sign, consider wearing a color from the school as one of your outfits. If you’re headed to Tech, consider a red or black shirt as one of your outfits. That way, we can incorporate your sign or hat seamlessly.

These are just the styles that I see most often during sessions, but that doesn’t mean these are the only styles to go for! If you’d like to incorporate a uniform or specific club, let’s do it! The looks you choose are the looks that best represent you, don’t overthink it, and chances are you have everything you already need in your closet!
