Get Ready for a Shoot with Me

There is a misconception about photographers. Most think when a shoot is scheduled, we don’t think about it again till we grab our camera and get in the car to head to our session. When in reality, from the second you plan your session, we are thinking about it! There is so much that goes into your session, so lets dive in!

Getting to know you

Part of the booking process requires you to fill out a brief survey. This survey helps me learn a little bit about you. Things like your interests, what you’re involved in, and what your plans are, all help me prepare for your session! I want to do my absolute best to connect with you and create a safe space where you can feel comfortable throughout your session, this survey helps me do Just that.

Location Scouting

While I have a handful of favorites around town, I am always up for finding a new location! In your pre-session survey, I ask where you would like to have your session (Nature, urban, etc.), Using that survey, I look for a location that would best suit you! Not sure where you want to go, check out my location guide!

Styling

One of the hardest parts for most seniors is figuring out what to wear. Once you have a few ideas, we can style your looks together. This is where the fun is! Adding your sneakers, a watch, or even your favorite hat can help complete one of your looks!

Posing Prep

I am constantly looking, thinking, and practicing (Yes, I practice the poses I will put you in!). I love to know what poses work best with which body types, with props, and which poses work best at specific locations.

Gear Prep

Last, and certainly not least, is the gear prep! A few days before your session, I make sure that all my batteries are charged, my cards are empty, and my camera body and lenses are working properly. True story: I had a lens malfunction at a session before, it was mortifying. I don’t ever want that to happen ever again! So I double and even triple-check my gear to make sure it is in tip-top shape before you even step in front of my camera!

All of this, and more, goes into getting ready for a session! I want to make sure that your session is unique to you, and that requires more planning than most realize!
